I planted Evening Primrose this spring and it's spreading itself with little runners. When/how do I move those new plants? I have friends who'd like to start them in their gardens. (Lower Mainland, B.C.)

Rarely see them dividing, they do not move well once planted, because they have a taproot, but they generally die back for part of the season, then re-grow. They grow easily from the seeds. They are pollinated by night flying moths. Poor sandy soil is their prefered habitat. They are a considered to be a biannual, but often are a short-lived perennial. Just throw the seeds onto a sandy open area and watch them grow, they can be quite weedy, when the competition is removed. My neighbors probably hate them but, I like the night colour. Native to the Interior of BC and elsewhere. A couple of years to flower from the nutritous, oily seeds.
