Will Senecio greyii 'Sunshine' (now Brachyglottis - what an ugly name for a sunny August-flowering plant) grow well on the North Shore if given sharp drainage and full sunshine? I have read that in high humidity, it may get blight. Are there any examples of it growing on the North Shore (or at UBC Botanical Garden?), in public places, where I can see a mature plant??

Garden hybrid belonging to Dunedin Group (of British references) rather than a pure form of the wild species B. greyii. Froze and died last winter on Camano Island, despite overhead shelter from a low-branching Leyland cypress. 'Sunshine' zoned Sunset 5 (and milder) in 2007 Western Garden Book, which maps coastal areas east of the west shore of Vancouver Island Sunset 4.

Thank you - just the information I needed to make a decision. Much appreciated. Tomorrow, will go and buy the Sunset book.
