I can tell you almost anything about sedums, but when it comes to my semps, I need help ! My semps seem to love being crowded in their pots. The more crowded the better. Is there not a point that I should repot them ? How many is too many in a pot ? Also I have two getting ready to bloom, my first semp blooms. Will this effect the plant ? Thanks !! Cheryl
Firstly, very nice plants. Repotting them I mostly for looks. They will spead and multiply for a long time where they are. I think, and I may be wrong, they the head that flowers will die. But, as you can see, they make tons of pups before dying. But the flowers are nice, and you will always have a endless supply of semps. The are ok crowded in because the parent dies and the pups grow and take it's place. The grow in big clumps/mats in the ground. That's the best I can figure, anyway. How did you take those photos?
The 1st one looks more like an echeveria to me. The leaves are broader and fatter than those of the sempervivum, but I'm no expert.
I thought the same thing on that 1st one when I saw it. But if you look at the enlarged pic, you can see the cilia on the edge of the leaves. That fits with a Semp. If not a Semp, then an Aeonium, but I've never seen an Aeonium color up exactly that way, so I figure it must be a Sempervivum after all! :D
Thanks everyone. The photos I took with my Digital Camera...I dabble in photography as does my son. Everyday I spend time out in my gardens taking pictures. I have a gazilion of them. I'll take a few more today, that particular plant in question has grown, so maybe that will help in the id of it.
