Sometimes small grafted maples flower and even develop seed. I assume this is a trait of the scion from an older parent tree. Does the seed development end up using energy that could have been used for foilage development? If that is the case, I believe it is better to remove it so it can concentrate on growing. Plant sizes I am referring to are 1-2 year plants.
