Seedheads

    Well, it was me 1, ants 0. The Tanglefoot kept them off and the tree is doing very well - no more leaf drop and with the shiny new growth, she looks much nicer than in the nursery. The fragrance and size of the flowers are fantastic, although not as long lasting as those of m. maudiae, which seem never to wilt.

    I've always wondered what to do with the seedheads of magnolias. Should I take them off, leave them on? These look quite quite substantial and don't seem to want to snap off.

    I was quite pleased to find a little seedling of m. sieboldii this spring (although I don't know where I'll find room for it :).
