Seed identification - please help!

    I have been trying to identify this seed. I was told it was a buckeye, but I can't find any similar photos.

    Any idea?

    They look exactly like Mucuna atropurpurea seeds. Caution with the urticating hairs on the calyxes !

    Thanks for asking about this. I've seen sea beans on the beaches past Hanalei on Kauai and always wondered what they are.

    It seems there is at least one more thing I could confuse them with: according to the Wayne's World article Silver Surfer linked to,
    I've never seen any of the flowers shown for these species. I should pay more attention next time, but the seeds may have just washed up onto the beach.
