I bought a pear tree about three weeks ago. The leaves and trunk were healthy but the leaves suddenly started turning dark brown - almost black. The branches still look okay.

It's still in the five gallon black nursery container but hasn't dried out (I don't think; even during a few days of hot weather). Is it okay to transplant? I was waiting until it cooled a bit, which it has. I wondered if it could be fire blight but the leaves turned so quickly from green to dark brown (and not all the leaves), I thought it might also be stress from transporting, sun and wind? Should I prune it?

Thanks! This is my first post. I have a new garden in Britannia Beach; my first in many many years.
