Identification: School project -- please help if you can!

    If anyone can help me identify this plant, I would greatly appreciate it. My professor gave me a cutting and I'm having a hard time figuring out what it is. I've attached three pictures to this post. What I know about the plant: the internodes are swollen -- they're full of starch and the plant had started to grow adventitious roots. The leaves are growing in alternating pairs and the leaves are kind of waxy.

    If this is a school project, I hesitate to do your work for you. I will tell you that this plant is in the Urticaceae. Joe
