Identification: Scary looking thing growing in my crawl space

    Help,

    This is growing in the crawl space of my house in Redwood City, CA.

    The crawl space seems dry and does not smell damp but this looks like a fungus. There are 3 of these "branches".

    Ideas?

    I'd bet its a Wood Ear (Auricularia auricula), grows on wood
