About 2 weeks ago I noticed clusters of little black bumps and ants on my lime tree. At first I thought it was the ants doing something so i killed them off and scraped as much as the bumps off and then sprayed the tree with very mildly soapy water. Today I noticed those clusters again and come to the conclusion of soft brown scale. There arnt very many at this point, just a cluster on a small limb with no leaves and a few on nearby limbs. The tree seems to be stressed due to a recent repot (that's when I noticed them) and with the addition of the scale, producing many flowers with stalled leaf growth. I can't seem to find horticultural oil on the web from major retailers around me. I'm going to search nearby nurserys tomorrow for it. If not then i guess ill get some insecticidal soap. I have a meyers lemon and a mandarin orange sitting next to it. I havnt noticed any on them yet but I plan to give them a thorough check, spray them down, and seperate them. Anybody know where to get the oil and any other/better ideas to control my infestation? Also, would it harm the tree to spray it, since it seems to be stressing? Or am i doing just what I need to be doing? I would add a pic but I can't upload from my phone. If anyone needs a pic I can put one on later.
