    Hi, everyone--

My father used to plant grapefruit seeds for fun, and often he'd get nice plants from them. He planted his last one in 2005 and passed away the same year. I have the little plant and it was fine for 3 years, but now it is clearly in distress, losing leaves. I really don't know how to save it, or if I can. Help!

Welcome to the Forum! You've come to the right place: if there is help to be had, you will get it here! Immediate questions: Can you post a picture? Any recent changes in your plant's location, light, moisture, temperature? Visible parasites? When was it last repotted? Any info you can give us will help in diagnosis and treatment!

Thank you for your reply! There are actually 2 grapefruit seedlings in the same pot. I'm going to try to attach a photo.

I did remove the from their pot tonight, since I was worried about them, and they were quite pot-bound. I did not disturb the roots (or as little as possible, anyway); I put them into a slightly larger pot, with their soil, and added a little. I will add more.

They've been in my kitchen, which has an east window. For 3 years, they've been pretty happy there. I've only watered them when they were dry. There is some sort of browning of some of the leaves, which I think shows in the photo. Between them they have 11 leaves left.

If they have been in the same mix for 3 years without a repot then that's probably the best place to start. If you were to go up say 1 or 2 inches in pot size, get some good quality mix and fruit tree fertiliser they would greatly benefit from that. Do this at least every 12 months dependening on growth rate. Once you get to a decent size pot just remember to keep fertilser up to them if you're not regularly repotting. While younger fertilse at a lower rate but do it a little more often.
It's sounds as though position would be okay if they've done alright for this long.
It looks like there's also some leaf miner damage it's a bit hard to tell. The lower leaves seem to be marked but can't quiet make out what by.
