Last summer we had a very hot, dry summer and one of our two beautiful cedar trees suffered what I believe is probably heat stress. All the needles turned brown and then this year the branches at the top of the tree became bare. We've watered it diligently this summer trying desperately to save the tree and now the needles on the lower branches have turned from brown to a bright red colour. What, if anything, can be done to save the tree? I would appreciate any help.

Looks to be planted on quite a slope ;-). Unfortunately, that is an ex-tree.

Probably used to be a Platycladus or maybe a Thuja.
