I planted a reddish colored slightly fuzzy seed into a 2.5" plastic pot that I plucked from a big potted sago palm in SC in December. It was loaded with seeds! These plants were potted everywhere in the downtown Charleston area.
So far, it seems to be doing pretty well.

This week I spilled out some of the soil covering the seed just to see what was going on. I noticed the top of the seed had split down the middle. Does that mean it's getting ready to sprout?
This would be an indoor plant, already have a larger potted one.

    Thanks.

Well, it's either about to sprout, or it's about to fester. ;-) Put the soil back on and wait. If it's only been planted since December, you may have another two months to wait before you see anything. Bloody things grow slow as a stone...

    Thanks Dguertin!

I don't think it's about to fester, or rotted, the seed is still as solid as the day it was planted.
You are sure sure right about this plant being slow, I have an adult that grows as slow as dirt!
