I have a two year old Royal Poinciana tree. Inoticed a piece of bark fallen off the tree, upon inspection I found one area abot 14 inches long on th nw side of the tree where the bark was separating from the tree. Only one piece had fallen off. Under that piece the tree trunk was dry. Checking a blog, I was advised to tape up the tree with duct tape and leave it for three months and remove the tape to prevent choking. Am I doing the right thing??

Best advice for bark injuries is do nothing except remove any loose material.
