We planted four 12 ft. Royal Palms 5 years ago in Florida and three have done well. One has not fared as well as the others. At first we thought that the palm had been caught by a short winter freeze. The new leaves seem to have a browning (frost burn). The following year we seem to have a greater problem of browning. In addition there appears to be a considerable number of small (half inch) spikes / projections from the trunk of the palm with a small green yellow bug inside. I cannot find any accurate description from known problems with Royal Palms of this bug or disease and would appreciate any advice on how to treat this Palm.
