I recently repotted my Rope Hoya to a bigger pot and since then it has started to turn yellow. A friend recommended trying Cactus soil instead of regular potting soil. Should I use the Cactus soil in the big pot and/or put it back in the smaller pot with regular soil? I don't want to kill this 20 year old plant that was given to me.
    Please help!!

First thing I would do is tap the pot good on the floor to knock the dirt down and to make sure you got all the dirt around the roots under it ...and see how it does... i have just used regular potting soil on mine and i dont have a problem .. if ya dont get the dirt all around the roots it can create an air pocket ..

good luck .. i love those plants..

just plain potting soil with nothing added to assist drainage isn't the best medium to grow hoya in. they don't like their 'feet' to remain too moist for too long.

there are numerous possibilities as to what has happened since you repotted: 1 - there are air-pockets and any water you are giving the plant is not getting to the roots or 2 - the soil is too compacted and the roots aren't getting any water or 3 - the soil is staying too moist and the roots are starting to rot

does the container have drainage holes in it? are you watering thoroughly and then allowing the soil to dry out a bit before watering again?

have you checked the plant for bug infestation?? look for webbing (spider mites) or white fluff (mealy bugs).
