I'm anxious to procure a Rhododendron (Madeleine Exbury Azalea). Does anyone know this plant, or where I might be able to obtain such a specimen ?

i'm not sure what "anxious" means at this non-planting (drought) time of year - however I understand what it's like to have a sudden plant urge (I had Bleeding Heart "Valentine" last spring when it was still damp at the coast)

From your post it looks like you are on Bowen - the best response I have had for various plants is Jardin de Flores in Roberts Creek BC - I would not be surprised if you could boat over to Gibsons or meet the owner in HShoe Bay

it's a great little nursery and they are very responsive to special requests

(or if they can't meet you - bring your cart on the ferry x 2 - park with the bicycles - and go from there - get a taxi - there are several nice nurseries on the coast - I think better than W Van (the famous old one on Marine Dr) etc.

    Quality Farm
B & K (both Quality and B and K are on the same road - Pratt Road - bus transit service on the coast

there is another one on W Reed - I had trouble with some plants from there - they were closed (I think Ag Canada rules?) for a while some years ago - so that might have been a factor.

ps the Water Taxi in Gibsons is Hanson Marine - they go over each afternoon in summer to p/u commuters so that is an expedient option. http://www.sunshinecoastwatertaxi.ca/pages/show/16

Hey, thanks a stack. Yes, not the best time of year. However, there's a couple I know just had a baby called "Madeleine", and thought of it as a living/meaningful gift. But thanks again for the info; I'll be on it today

    Here is B&K https://www.facebook.com/pages/BK-Garden-and-Landscape-Supply/144679508971139

and here is Quality Farm http://www.qualitygardenandpet.com/
(both places on Pratt Road - a bus transit route from / to the Langdale terminal bc ferries)

the Jardin de Flores is also on the main Langdale - Gibsons - Sechelt bus route - that would be my first place to try - the lady owner is very responsive and loves to search out special requests - I know she goes to the city/valley - so I bet you could meet at HShoe Bay - worth asking for sure.

let us know how it turns out.

Hi: Are you still looking for an Exbury? I might have a couple of sources.
