I love this genus. Thanks to RayMikeMatt, I have 3 small growing vining/shingling types of this genus. But this is probably the most commonly seen (and definitely the large growing king) of the genus...Rhaphidophora decursiva. They have a HUGE specimen with 3-4 ft leaves growing up a tree at Fairchild Gardens in Miami. This is mine. Leaves are about 12-15", its just a baby!
Is that a Calathea on the middle right? Does it have pink stripes? If so I used to have this one, but I lost it : ( Ed
Hi Ed, yes, that's a young Calathea magnifica. I also grow the Calathea ornata. I have a few much larger specimens. They are sorta slow, but once they take off, they really go quickly.
I get these calathea mixed up all the time. The one with the shiney leaves and maroon undersides is majestica, here and in the photo above
and this is Ornata. Both have pink on them when the leaves are young, but it fades as the leaves mature
