Hi! I have a maidenhair fern - I'm not exactly sure which variety...but I think maybe Northern as it outdoors hardy. I had it outside in a pot, under cover, north-facing and it did very well there and stayed green well into the fall. I have not watered it throughout the winter, and it has not been rained on. I had assumed it had gone dormant. It is still upright and mostly green. I was wondering how to get it going for the spring. Should I cut all the foliage down? Is it even still alive? I put it out in the rain last week, but am wondering how I will know if it will revive.
    Thanks!

The maidenhair fern in my garden is still sleeping, as are my other ferns. Trim back the old fronds and just wait patiently.
