Hi, I have an indoor geranium which, while I was in the hospital for an extended period of time, was deprived of both light and water, this was 5-6 weeks. I am surprised it lived. But most of it died. The one tiny piece that is left green, is growing but it is only growing thin and long... sort of like a trailing vine... instead of like a tall strong geranium. The little piece is growing out of a thicker piece which is kind of like a stump... this thicker piece, most of it died and fell off. The thickest piece comes straight up out of the dirt, the other thick piece grows out of the thickest piece at a right angle... and the little thinnest piece grows at a right angle to that piece, and it does not stand tall, it falls over and trails out of the pot. The whole thickest part is about 1 inch tall and does not seem to grow. The thinnest part seems to grow faster than it can support itself. Is there anything I can do to make this plant thrive better? It needs first aid, but I don't know what to do. Thanks for your help. F.D.
You could cut the whole thing back and get a clipping of your vine-like part to stick in some water/potting mix to attempt to grow a new one in case trimming back the old one does not promote new growth at the soil level. At least if you keep the cutting and start a new one from it you will still have one - and if the old one comes back well you will have two!
