I recently bought a tall stalk of " lucky bamboo " from china town, and cut into two pieces. The bottom half that had established roots is down ok, the top is not doing well, at all! It is turning yellow. What should I do.

"Lucky Bamboo", Dracaena sanderana, is very, very tough stuff. As long as the cane is still green it will be fine. Is it in water? I did the same thing last year. I cut them into pieces and pulled the leaves off. Then they sprouted new, bright, strong leaves. IF the leaves are going down hill then just cut them off. Once roots have formed then it will grow new leaves too.

Thank you so much! The cane is what has turned yellow, and slowly creeping upwards. Should I cut the yellow part off? I noticed that there are segments, should I cut above or below?

Cut above the segment you want to keep, but I don't know if it will do you any good. Other then the stress of waiting, there is no harm in trying.
