My roomate and I recently bought a Red Sister plant. It looked fine at first but now we have noticed the leaves turning brown and dying. we havnt watered it too often. the amount of sunlight has varied. we have it by our patio door that we frequently use. could it maybe be from the amount of cold air that it gets or maybe not enough sunlight?

they need regular water - they don't like to be in soggy soil, just fairly moist. then should do okay with bright sunlight inside. the cold is definitely an issue so i'd move it away from the door.

with the water, let it sit overnight before watering the plant. two reasons: one, the chlorine in the water will dissipate and two, the water will be at room temp. i always keep gallon jugs filled with water so i can be ready to go whenever it's needed.

the browning leaves are probably from a combination of chlorine in the water, not enough water and the blasts of cold air and lack of consist bright light aren't helping either.
