Among my plants, this is the only plant that i do not know the scientific name. I know this is a ficus and the new leaves are shiny and red. the leaves turned light green when it gets older.
Useful link http://www.figweb.org/Fig_wasps/checklists/south_african_catalogue.htm Links to each species with photos. F. ingens is "Redleaf Fig' however the foliage doesn't match as well as some of the others. Especially look at F. salicifolia. HTH Chris
If it's a Philippines native the possibilities are numerous. I would only go so far ast to say it's a strangler fig (Ficus subgenus Urostigma). Red new foliage is a common feature of tropical rainforest trees.
Hi Chris and TonyR! Thanks for giving time to find the scientific name for my red ficus. I think it looks more like the ficus indigens. Though it differs in leaf shape, it is because the leaves in that photo is too young but when it matures, the leaves is shaped like the indigens. It is not the ficus subgenus orostigma because the young leaves of this genus is not red. I'll upload the topmost part of this tree where the leaves are turning green. thanks again. Cindy
