red leaf banana plants

    i have one of the above, red leaf banana plant!. wev'e had lots of rain and 2 nights of frost. all the leaves have drooped on an otherwise healthy plant during the summer. what's the best thing to do to bring it back to its former glory, iv'e no greenhouse and limited room in doors. do i cut leaves off, or rap in insulating bubblerap???. ideas 7 soloutions please!. peadypoos. ;-]

    Start by pruning it back hard (leave only the shoots of the newest leaves), then start watering it (yourself, of course you can't control the rain) less and less, and finally wrap it in burlap. It will go dormant, and you can unwrap it next spring after the last frost.

    How cold does Sussex get in the wintertime? If it's much below -5 centigrade, you'd do well, in addition to the burlap, to build a styrofoam box around the pseudotrunk, and fill that with packing peanuts.
