I've just purchased a 5' Red Haven Peach tree and am anxious to plant it correctly and care for it properly so it will survive. It is already loaded with walnut sized fruit but has some leaf spot. I live in the Chicago area and wonder what kind of winter protection or critter protection I should provide. Any watering, fertilizing or pest control suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You may email me with suggestions please as I may not again be able to find this thread (I'm a somewhat computer illiterate senior) but please use Red Haven Peach in the subject line or I will not open unrecognized emails.
I'd love to get this planted this Memorial Day weekend if possible.
