    Hello

This tree with large showy upward pointing red flowers was in streets in Merida. Could someone possibly identify it?

    Many thanks,
    Dion

We call it African Tulip Tree. Just mind the seeds as mine pop up everywhere!
    Nice when in bloom...

Many thanks Ed and Dave. I suspected it wasn`t a native tree.

It's not, but it's common as dirt on the boulevards across South America. The town of Ibarra in Ecuador has them planted all along the highway.
