redberry.jpg We have recently moved into a new home, and I noticed this growing in our backyard.
We have a dog and a young child who play back there, so I am cautious of any berries sprouting up.

It is a small red berry with bumps all around it.
Grows on what seems like a vine and has three leaves attached to the vine. Berries are by themselves.

I live in the Southeast (North Carolina) US.

Yep, Potentilla indica (syn. Duchesnea indica). Closely related to strawberries, and edible, just not very tasty. No need to worry at all with this one.
