I am looking for some recommendations for JM for full sun. It will be planted near to a summer gold. Ideally not too big perhaps up to 2m tall. Would really appreciate some suggestions.
Good morning Stuart, I have Red Wine near my Summer Gold and it gives a nice contrast and it does well in full sun in my garden. Here is a photo of how the leaves look in Spring.
How about an unusual recommendation that I have.... 'Fior d'arancio' Not sure if that's the correct spelling but I'll send photo of how it looks next to 'Jordan' Very happy in full sun.
Most red dissectums will be happy in full sun and contrast well with summer gold, as long as your zone isn't too warm.
Maybe this is a good place to post my question: will a japonicum Aconitifolium and a palmatum Sode Nishiki suffer in full sun?
Aconitifolium does fairly well in the sun in my garden, but I believe Sode Nishiki does not, although I don't have this one.
Thank you for the recommendation this looks lovely, how does it look in the summer ? Does it maintain those colours
Thank you for the recommendation, this looks lovely, not one I have come across before, I will keep an eye out for this one
My understanding is that Omure Yama will take full sun, I certainly hope so as I have just the spot for it in a few years. Is this correct?
Good morning N, warm enough for you?? That's a lovely little Omure yama you have there. And yes it will, take full sun or partial shade, so if thats where it is going then it will be perfect. D
Brilliant, thank you D. Temperature is just about right for me at the moment, I'm not a hot summer man.
Thanks D. Good to hear my aconitifolium will probably do good, that was an expensive piece. Still can't believe how I got that Sode Nishiki for only 100 €, given that is almost 3m tall, but I can always replant that one if needed. So far it seems to do pretty OK in the full sun, but we haven't had those 35° C summer days yet... Would you recommend watering them on those days as well if they are in full ground?
Thank you, this seems like a good choice, not sure how readily available they are but I will try to get one.
My partner has a crimson queen that has done incredibly well for over 40 years in direct south facing sun as well, might be more available
