I have never seen flowers like this. It looks like small yellow flowers inside the flower itself. Actually these may have been planted here, I am not sure. They are in Valley View nature preserve in Milford, Ohio.
When I posted this I told my wife it probably was some common garden flower that just about everyone else would know (we don't know garden flowers at all, we are only focused on wildflowers). thanks again!
That's ok. I specialize in posting common garden flowers that everyone but me knows. Who knew zinnias looked that interesting!
