I took this plant from my Mom because it grew too big for her living room and it preceded to explode into the largest house plant I have ever seen. It's way too big for our room now. I would like to separate or re-root each of the aerial stems that are showing and put them in new (smaller) pots to give away- there are 6 of them. How do I approach this?

The aerial roots of your plant appear to be plenty and well established. It should be possible to pot up the individual stems without much trouble. Bury each cut stem deep enough to cover a number of roots and allow those above the soil to drape down towards the soil surface so that they will root themselves in time.
