I am looking for a suitable Raspberry variety for Vancouver Island (North Qualicum Beach). It will be for Fresh Market production. Also looking for a source for plants. Any recommendations?

    Thanks Kim
I have gone through both of these sites. I'm looking for more specific info for the varieties most suitable for Vancouver Island region. If there is any first hand accounts of successes that would be appreciated.

Sorry I can't help you spercifiaclly with a grower or the right cultivar for your site.
I think if you can hook up with other growers they can help you with the right variety.

If you get a chance to contact some of these local farms in your area it would give you a better idea. We used to do grower field days up in the Okanagan and look at how other growers crops performed, what they were growing, marketing etc. I'm not sure if they still do that Brent Warner was great fro organizing such events. Good luck
sorry I couldn't help you any further. I've worked with several raspberry growers up in the Okanagan what works there and what works where you are totally different.

    Cheers

    Kim

We are just a few miles from you and have great sucess with "Tulameen" for a large flavorful summer berry and ,surprise, "Qualicum" for a late summer and into frost second crop berry. We bought both at the nursery on the Alberni hwy past the Coombs cutoff. We are very satisfied with both. Good Luck

I saw raspberry starter plants at the store last week. Is it warm enough to plant them now? And will it give fruit this year?
