Brazil. This flowers was not open Wednesday but I googled for images and it is very special in color and shape, as all flowers in Iris family
Here are some plants that were new to me, from our visit on July 9. Dierama reynoldsii, from South Africa. Hesperaloe parviflora. Some common names Redflower yucca, Red yucca. From parts of Texas and Mexico. This is Escallonia week for me. I had never heard the word, and then just had one identified in the garden where I live. These are Escallonia 'Newport Dwarf' and E. rubra 'Woodside'. They're in the South American section of the Alpine Garden. [Edited]I forgot one: Sisyrinchium striatum. I particularly like the new pale green leaves with the black outer leaves. Common names: pale yellow-eyed grass or Argentine blue-eyed grass. From Argentina and Chile.
I have my favourites in Alpine garden too. Origanum amanum from Mediterranean area and w E. Аsia, maybe not rare but it is so cute, hidden flowers inside! First picture from last year, how it looks not open, second with visible flowers I love both of this Dianthus (petraeus ssp. noeanus from Europe and longicalyx from China,Japan, Korea)
I think Dichelostemma multiflorum is a very fascinating flower, it looks at first as related to Campanula family but it is from Asparagaceae family Very interesting Watsonia pillansii from my favourite Iris family, this flower is native to South Africa Blackberry lily(named by fruits) or Leopard lily(named by flower color), Latin name Iris domestica is just open first flower
