UBC garden right now has so many plants in bloom. Very hard to choose what to post. I follow my principle, what is rare, what's amused me the most and etc.
At least 5-6 sp. of roses are in bloom, weigelas, deutzias and mock-oranges.
I want to post something new, what maybe I saw in bloom first time?

Daphnes are unusual plants, people love their smell and their look, all daphnes are very poison, this gives me negative thought every time when I meet these flowers. Anyway they are beautiful, Daphne alpina, Daphne domini, Daphne oleoides ssp. kurdica

Iris douglasiana cv. Cape Ferrelo, Iris douglasiana cv. Cape Sebastian, and third one again I think Iris douglasiana(no label), Iris milesii, Iris sintenisii

Jovellana violacea, Violet slipper flower and spotted orchid Dactylorhiza

Leptospermum rupestre from Tasmania looks like cotoneaster(from distance)

Are those cultivars of the Douglas iris or collection site locations?

In this case they happen to be both. We don't list collection location on verified plants--we do on wild collected, unidentified accessions ( given red labels).

The two listed were purchased from Siskiyou. I have not done proper research yet, but Miller BG lists them as cultivars selected from those areas. They are very pretty.

I didn't bother to look earlier, but both are listed as cultivars (in single quotes) by Hill/Narizny, The Plant Locator - Western Region (2004, Black-Eyed Susans/Timber, Portland).
