Last summer, the leader of this little P. nigra was accidentally broken.
But the broken part grew a new candle, while the surrounding branches decided they might turn into a new leader.
Especially this one branch, which bent way in towards the center, with a huge new candle, to challenge the old leader.
Both of them are now about 16 inches (40 cm) long !
Any bets on which one will win in the end ?
