I'm new to this forum. I went searching the internet for answers and wound up here. This looks like a place that I might get some answers. I have 2 Mexican Fan Palms, that are about 15-20 ft, approx. 7 years old. I bought them when they were about 2 ft. Last year, they had stems that came out and bloomed white like flowers everywhere. This year again, and now it is LOADED with large bunches of shiney green, acorn size, fruit/nuts/beans. What are these? I can't find any info on this. Are they seed? Are they fruit? What do you do with them? Thanks!
Yep, they're the fruit. When they're fully ripe they'll turn dark blue or black; the fruit pulp is edible, though not anything very special (like a rather small, thin-fleshed date). Likely that a lot of them will get eaten by birds.
By the thousands! Most consider them to be the equivalent to weeds, as they sprout up everywhere. Cheers, LPN.
LOL! Thanks! Or.............................maybe not! LOL Oh well, I have 3 acres, I could use a few more!
