Question re: Growing by the Ocean

Discussion in 'HortForum' started by Todd Gates, Aug 30, 2005.

  1. Good Day.

I am wondering what kind of plants/trees grow well near the Ocean? I have a cottage on the East Coast, near the Anapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. The cottage is right a cliff overlooking the water. Currently, there are tall Evergreen-type trees on the property, but most have fallen down because the roots don't get down far enough to keep the trees sturdy.

I was hoping to plant some fruit trees after I remove all the other trees that have fallen down, but I want to make sure that they would survive and do ok.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!! You can email me at gatescottage@dccnet.com if you had further questions that needed answered before you could provide me with a suggestion...

    Thanks!

    Hi Todd,

I'm sure that posting on a board is probably new to you, but I think you will find that by registering you will get responses. Most people that respond to questions on these boards/forums don't respond to personal e-mails. If you register you have the option of being notified of a response. If you respond to my post, I will get a notice. Also, posting your e-mail addy in the body is not a good idea. It can lead to spam.
