Hi I'm new on the board! I'm looking for small varieties of apples. I'm doing a wedding cake and using apples to decorate it, I plan on using crab apples, but would like another variety as well. Any suggestions?? I also need to know where to find them. Thank you!
Hello Taryn, welcome to the forums. I don't know when your wedding is occuring, but you are likely to find more varieties of apples at the UBC Botanical Garden Apple Festival next month than anywhere else.
Unfortunately the wedding is on October 15, the DAY OF the festival which would have been perfect! I discovered this board while looking through info on the festival.
Small apples that are not crab apples seem rare in markets. Like Ron said try a really large market (maybe Granville Island) or a specialty market. What about other fruits? Marzipan apples?
Are the apples intended for eating, or just decoration? If the former, I'd not recommend crab apples - why not try something more palatable like grapes?
