QE Park : Dimocarpus longan like fruit

    There were 2 of this kind of trees, but none is labelled.
    External appearance and size a bit like Dimocarpus longan. But fallen
    fruits on the ground, when broken up, are filled with
    white paste like substance.
    Kindly ID please.

    I think it might be Davidia involucrata. The white paste like substance doesn't seem to be right though, except that I see that Davidia do have seeds in with white fibres. Were these on opposite sides of the quarry garden, one on the path on the way down?

    Wonder why QE Park has neglected to put up label for these 2 trees
    which must have been there for a long time.
