    Hi Everyone!

This forum has helped me so mush in the past - for that I thank you all!

I have a 3-trunk Pygmy date that has brown patches cropping up on most of the fronds of 1 branch of the palm (not present so far on the other 2). It also seems to be a bit stunted as it's not pushing as many new fronds as the other 2 and the color is not as green either. I'm not sure if it's a fungus, or a magnesium sulfate deficiency.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks to all!

Could it have gotten too cold last Winter?
I'm seeing lot of latent damage on palms here in Texas.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, it did get brutally cold here this past year - record breaking in fact! -(I live just east of Mobile, Alabama). But I took some very serious precautions the past couple of years as I almost lost it one year from the cold. I build a tent structure completely over it; install a heater and fan for circulation; and even monitor the temperature remotely to ensure it didn't get below freezing. And while the cold was so bad (relative to normal expectations) that it damaged my Pindo and Toddy date palms, there wasn't even a burnt frond on the Pygmy Date palm, so I'm not too suspicious of the cold being a factor.

    Thanks,

    Al
