Purple fruit tree in Beirut

    I photographed this tree in early July near Beirut Lebanon. My only guess is that it is a plum tree. Can someone verify that for me, or set me straight?

    Looks like Prunus insititia (syn. Prunus domestica subsp. insititia) to me.
