    Hi Everybody:

I took a photo of this beautiful wildflower near the Coldwater River on the Coquilhalla Hwy, 26 August 2007. Could someone identify it?

    Thanks, karolina

Epilobium, maybe E. hirsutum - unless this was a short-growing one up in the mountains, in which case it might be another.

It is in the mountains of BC, I don't remember it's height, thanks, Ron.

That looks like fireweed. ( Family: Onagraceae, Genus: Epilobium )

Thanks Artemis, I think so too, -only because I saw 2 similar ones on 2 other sites. But I couldn't in anyway be sure (given how little I know about wildflowers) because one of them was a bright 2-tone pink, and the other was a mottled white and pale (purple? I think).

oh I'm blind- Ron answered this already- sorry bout that. This plant is a common 'weed' out here although I saw one being grown as an ornamental by someone who probably didn't know that! :)
