In The Garden: Purple Bee-Magnet Flowers

    I managed quite a nice little video of these flowers, growing in an East Vancouver garden. However, I didn't take any .jpgs, so this one is a rather rough frame-grab from the video.

    These flowers were doing a very good job of attracting bees.

    Does anyone know what kind of flowers they are? Thank you.

    Lavandula stoechas, French lavender?

    Thank you, togata57. I followed up the name you gave me, and it looks like that's what it is.

    —The rather weird part is that I expected to find all sorts of references to it as an obvious bee-attractor. And yet, in a dozen accounts, I saw not one mention of this extremely important quality. I really don't :-( get it. Even just for commercial profit, surely plants that are good for our decimated bee population are in demand.

    There's a Lavandula stoechas cultivar series sold using the Bee trademark because of this feature.
