    Re: Climbing roses

HI.. in the summer i have trouble with my rose bush..( don't know the type but has small pink flowers on it) growing like crazy.. can i prune it as it is growing? it's along a walkway and everyone gets snaged by it.. i like it where it is but it does become a pain Tom

Maybe try cutting canes nearest to walk off at base. That may do it, unless there are a bunch also coming across from farther away. And new ones will sprout where you cut later, so that you will have to do it again.

Otherwise, follow each nuisance branch back to just above a fork, that is beyond the zone of conflict and cut it off there.

thanks Ron.. my wife use to hate for me to prune anything.. but i think she has learned that it is healthy for the plant.. we just moved to Lake Hartwell in north GA. and we have a lot of work to do.. both just retired and we love the challenge ahead.. brand new to this site but already love it..
