What is the best time of year to prune my apple trees, and how should I prune them.

We live in North Eastern BC, in hardiness zone 2a.

Generally apple trees are pruned during their dormant season - January-February should be good. There are some good posts on apple pruning and care on the forums. You might want to use the Search Function (on green bar at the top of the page) to find the threads about apple trees or read through some of the threads in the Fruit and Nut Tree forum.
