I have an apple tree and I would like to know when would it be the best time of the year to prune the tree?

    Hello ramirogutie,

There are several threads about pruning apples on the forums. You may want to read through them. Use the search function (on the green bar at the top) to find threads containing "apple" and "pruning".

Readers may have special suggestions for you about growing apples in California.

    Briefly:

Thin out old branches in midwinter (January).

Head back new shoots in midsummer (July).
