I have a 20 foot japanese maple (Palmatum) is it still possible to prune it for a cloud effect of its foliage and if so could you please give me instructions on the best way to do this type of pruning?

    Thank you

    Pruning Japanese Maple

20', whoa, sounds like it already is a cloud. I would remove dead, damaged and any diseased wood. Also remove any branches that are rubbing and maybe some that are crossing. I would do a little at a time, through out the year. Check this site out. Maybe you can get some ideas from it.

Cloud pruning is usually restricted to Japanese (and other) pines
Can you really cloud prune a Japanese Maple?
