I planted this 5 years ago and never realized it needed pruning. It is now 30 feet tall with one central leader of at least 2 inches and several other vertical branches. How heavy can I prune this back to a bud or a vertical branch?
    Thanks for any advices.

If you don't care how big it is leave it alone, it does not "need" pruning unless you want all of it to be closer to hand. And it's a bit late in the game to try and make it a small, stylized flattish thing easy to pick from.

    Thanks for your reply.
If I do want to prune it hard, it won't harm the tree?
