I have 3 blueberyy plants planted in a row 15 cm's apart. Is this too close?
I know they grow in terms of height, that's why I planted them like that.

    Re: Dying blueberry

I think this is way too close. If you look at the commercial blueberry farms in the Valley, the plants are about a meter apart. In our garden we have planted them about 80 cm apart but if the bushes grow to full maturity and are not pruned, that will also be too close. Yes, they do grow up but they also grow out.

I dont' think planting your berry bushes too close together could be the cause of your dying plants. How old are they? When did you plant them? What is the soil like? Is it acidic? Do you add compost? Many questions and answers to think about.

Blueberry plants in Ontario, I think, are slightly smaller beasts than the ones in British Columbia - what cultivars did you plant, and what is the estimated maximum height and spread of them?

'Northland' and 'Hardiblue' are considered semi-dwarfs, as well. Well, 15cm apart is too close, but 80cm apart is probably too much. Something in the middle would be more appropriate, say, 50cm.

I have them about two ruler lengths apart....60 cm
    I transplanted them.
Problem is they are showing maroon colour leaves...as opposed to their full green leaves...probably soil is not acidic enough. I will use some saw dust e.t.c.

Hi make sure your soil conditions are proper. Northsky is a Minnesota introduction so it should be hardy for your conditions as are Hardi-blue and Northland. Make sure they have adequate water as well. 50-60cm between plants is okay for a small planting.

This is a good resource website for blueberries.

1 plant got more water than it needed...looks like it. Leaves are soggy. It is weird because all three of my plants got the same watering amount and on same soil.
Other than that...the plants look good.

    I encorporated:

ammonium sulfate, sawdust, peatmoss, manure to make the soil more acidic.
I will throw some pine needles in to.
It takes time to make the soil acidic....I hope the plants don't die in the process.
