How do I get a new plant from an older one? A friend has a plant and is willing to give me part of it. How do I do this?

You may want to clarify...are you trying to propagate a Hibiscus, as you placed this in the Hibiscus forum?

also if it is a hibiscus what type tropical or hardy. if it is a tropical than cuttings will work also if there is a larger branch that he is wanting to trimm off than an air layer would work too . if it is a hardy hibiscus i am nto sure if cuttings will work for those i know collecting the seeds is the easiest for the hardy types. and again it depends on what type of hibiscus you are trying to get a piece of. if it is a hibiscus you are talking about.
