I think pickling is part of the process ?

I wonder if the usual sugar violet preservation method would work for sweet confection decor

The page is listed in the sidebar as Cherry Blossoms Japanese in the sublist that's display under Flowers.

That's probably the best place for it to be in even though things like mushrooms, ferns, cacti, and others won't be represented. It just goes to show what a wide range of things that humans consume as food.
